Wow, and thank you, to everyone who helped make run #25 a success.  Two “Hares”, Pretty Fly and formerly, Just Paulo, set a great trail through the hilly neighborhoods of South East Hill.  We started from the Amtrack Station parking lot and after a few cold drinks to get the group in a social mood, a “chalk talk” to give instructions, and a “blessing of the Hares” by the “GM”,  

Great trail, great run, all safe, all fun.  On On!!

The run began at 5:35 PM.  The “Hares” led us North toward Cervantes and then East across 17th Ave.  A descending “check back” had the “front runners” climbing hard and out of breath when the walkers caught up with “the pack”.  Then back down to the tracks and across the railroad trestle out to Hobo Island were the vast majority of Hounds were led to another “check back” that forced the group to retrace their steps back to Grafitti Bridge.  Once again, this allowed the walkers to catch up before heading down Gregory St to the midway “beer stop” in the bar at McGuire’s Irish Pub. 

The “beer check” was a bit of a problem for some of our lovelies as they did not have proper ID and could not be served.  A few of our manlies also had a challenge since they were runnig sans-a-shirt and could not get into the bar.  Not to fear, for we had some of the “golden nectar” in the parking lot and a few of our thoughtful “hounds”, (like Just Angeli) smuggled some of the medal winning McGuire’s Ale out to the thirsty group.  The Hares, (and the GM), marked this in the lessons learned category.  Note to self:  next time there is a beer stop in a fine, fine, establishment, be sure to have the hounds bring ID and wear a shirt (and pants, too). 

The Hares were once again away at 6:20 PM and the Hounds followed shortly down through Aragon and by the Civic Center, up 9th Ave and back to the Amtrack Stn. 

Formal festivities were short and sweet.  We had a few “Toasts”, a few “Challenges” and a name for Just Paulo.  Henceforth and forever more, he shall be known a Portu-Potty!

Just Ben & Just Holiday @ Georgio's

The “FRB” (Front Running Bastxxx) was Just Ben followed closely by Just Courtney, Longshanks, Just Glen and Just Grant. and The “TEC” (Tail End Cassie) was Just Sandy! The other “TEC” (Tail End Charlie) was Dirty Deeds.

The entire “Kennel” adjourned to Georgio’s Pizza where the Club paid for pizza and beer in celebration of our 25th run.  Carl, from Georgio’s, and his entire crew, once again treated us very well and the food was fantastic!

A good time was had by all.
